At someone's table, J'ai très bien mangé (I've eaten very well) is warmer than the flat refusal and is what you'll actually hear French guests say.

Je suis plein
I'm drunk
The mistake to avoid. There is no clean French equivalent of I'm full. Say I'm not hungry any more, or J'ai très bien mangé. Je suis plein reads as I'm drunk in France, and elsewhere in the francophone world it is what you say about a pregnant animal.
