How to Say "Let me introduce you" in French

Je te présente…
/ʒə tə pʁe.zɑ̃t/
Literally: I present to you
Je
I
te
to you
présente
present

Formal and plural

Formal or pluralJe vous présente…

Je te présente Marie is how introductions are actually made, since you name the person rather than announcing the act. Permettez-moi de vous présenter is the formal version and belongs in a speech or a business setting.

Correct
Je te présente…
What people say wrong
Je t'introduis
I insert you
The mistake to avoid. Introduire exists, and it means to insert or to put something inside something else. Applied to a person it is anatomically unfortunate, and je t'introduis is not a sentence you can recover from gracefully. The verb for introducing people is présenter, which English speakers avoid precisely because it looks like present. Same shape as the assister and attendre pair: the English-looking word is the wrong one.
