/ʒə sɥi aʁive/
Literally: I am arrived

arrivé(e)
arrived
Good to know
Women write arrivée, and it sounds the same. To say you have only just got there, use je viens d'arriver. To say you got there safely, use je suis bien arrivé(e).
Correct
Je suis arrivé(e)
What people say wrong
J'ai arrivé
Not correct French; it copies the English 'I have arrived'
The mistake to avoid. Most verbs use avoir in the past, so j'ai arrivé feels natural to English speakers. But arriver is one of the verbs of coming and going that take être, like partir, venir and aller. Because it takes être, the ending agrees: elle est arrivée, ils sont arrivés. Think of it as I am arrived and it sticks.
